Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between inflammation and platelet aggregability in angina pectoris. Methods Blood samples were collected from 35 stable angina pectoris patients, 30 healthy control subjects and 25 unstable angina pectoris patients on the second day of admission and when symptoms were controlled . Serum interleukin -6(IL-6) was determined by radioimmunoassay, C-reactive protein(CRP) was analyzed by immunonephelometry, and platelet alpha-granule membrane protein-140 was measured by enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay(ELISA) . Results The levels of IL-6, CRP,GMP-140 in both unstable and stable angina pectoris patients were higher than those in control group(all P<0.01). There three factors were higher in unstable angina pectoris patients than in stable angina pectoris patients(P<0.01),and were positively correlated to each other (all P<0.01). Conclusion Proinflammatory cytokine (IL-6) and the induced inflammatory acute phase protein may play an important role in atherosclerosis by activating platelet aggregability.
