A survey on diabetes knowledge in Guangdong native
Abstract：Objective To investigate the knowledge on diabetes in Guangdong natives. Methods 11 742 persons selected at random were face-to-face interviewed and were asked about their knowledge on diabetes consisted of 6 questions including symptoms, dietary habits, obesity, genetics, control and complications of diabetes. Results The percentage of correct answer for each question was less than 28%. Two third of the natives were muddled about the questions. Patients diagnosed before or persons who with higher educational level had high proportion of correct answers. Conclusion Knowledge in Guangdong native was scanty. Diabetes education should be focused on middle-aged and old people.
