A cross-sectional study on diabetes mellitus in Guangdong Province
Abstract：Objective To describe the distribution and epidemiological features of diabetes mellitus in Guangdong Province. To analyze the risk factors and provide evidences for working out a program of diabetes mellitus control. Method Stratified random cluster sampling was used to collect data. The data base was established and statistical analysis was made with SPSS. Results The prevalence of diabetes mellitus was 3.5%. The patients recently diagnosed during this survey period accounted for 70.8% of all diabetic patients. Lack of exercise was the primary risk factor of diabetes mellitus. Conclusion There are heavy responsibilities for diabetes mellitus control in Guangdong Province. Attention should be paid to the prevalence situation and the potential risk of diabetes mellitus.
