Treatment of osteoporosis intertrochanteric fracture in elderly with modified Gamma nail
Abstract:Objective To study the treatment of osteoporosis intertrochanteric fracture in elderly.Methods 25 cases of osteoporosis intertrochanteric fracture in elderly with internal fixation of Gamma nail from 1996 to 2000 were analyzed retrospectively and compared with literature.Results The duration of operation is from 75 to 150 minutes. Patients could sit up and get functional training from the third to fifth day after operation. They started to be trained to walk on crutches four weeks after operation. There were no complications.Conclusion The internal fixation with Gamma nail is a good method to treat osteoporosis intertrochanteric fracture in elderly. Patients should receive suitable functional training and antiosteoporosis medicines.
