Abstract:Objective To investigate the value of the DNA content and cell-cycle analysis in diagnosing laryngeal precancerous lesion and laryngeal carcinoma. Methods 62 cases including 4 laryngeal normal epithlium, 5 laryngeal keratosis, 8 atypical hyperplaisa cell, 9 papilloma and 36 laryngeal carcinoma were examined with flow cytometry (FCM). Results In continuous process of normal cell to cancerous cell, the DNA index, cell-cycle S-fractions and proliferative index gradually increased, with the appearance of aneuploid cells. Compared with other groups, laryngeal cerainoma was characterized by a high percentage of aneuploid cells (P<0.005). Conclusion The DNA quantitive analysis with FCM is helpful for the early dignosis of laryngeal carcinoma.
