Evaluation of liver function with 99mTc-phytate scintigraphy after heterotopic liver transplantation in pig
Abstract:Objective To evaluate the live function with 99mTc-phytate scintigraphy after heterotopic liver transplantation in pig. Methods The graft was transplanted in the right subhepatic space of recipient to establish pig heterotopic partial liver transplantation model with its host portal vein partially constricated near host liver. Trussing was used to control graft and host liver blood flow. the functions of graft and host liver were evaluated by 99mTc-phytate scintigraphy after heterotopic liver transplantation and were compared with histology. Results The functions of graft and host liver evaluated by 99mTc-phytate scintigraphy were correspondent with histology. In group A, the liver blood flows were almost equilibrated in graft and host liver. Both livers were not atrophic. The blood flow of host liver was significantly less than that of graft liver in group B and the host liver was atrophic. However, the blood flow of graft liver was significantly less than that of host liver in group C and the graft liver was atrophic. Conclusion 99m Tc-phytate scintigraphy can accurately reflect the functions of graft and host livers after heterotopic liver transplantation and it is a reliable means for to investigating liver functions.
