Postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy based on chemosensitivity in nude mice assay for non- amall cell lung cancer: a random-ized study
Abstract:Objective To evaluate chemosensitivity of non - small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) in nude mice subrenal capsule as-say and efficacy of adjuvant chemotherapy after radical surgery for NSCLC. Methods Fresh non- small lung cancer specimens weretransplanted into nude mice and 10 kinds of potential anticancer drugs were used in vivo chemosensitivity test. 120 patents with NSCLCundergone radical surgery were randomized into two groups: 70 patients received adjuvant chemotherapy based on chemosensitivity testingin nude mice assay, 50 patients received adjuvant chemotherapy with standard medicines. Results The histological examination showedthat many well preserved tumor cells in nude mice on day 12 and individual lung cancers showed different sensitivities to the drugs. The3 - year survival rate was 60.0% in the nude mice assay group , and 50.0% in the contral group. The difference between two groupswas not statistical significant( P > 0.05). But in stage Ⅲ, the survival rate was 52.6% and 33.3%, with statistically significance( P <0.05). Conclusion The tumor chemosensitivity testing in nude mice assay showed an excellent clinic results, Postoperative adjuvantchemotherapy based on chemosensitivity testing in nude mice assay results in significantly higher 3 - year survival rate in stage Ⅲ than instandard medicines.
