Abstract:In order to determine the cause of death of rong-tailed lemurs in a zoo in Guangdong Province, the methods were conducted through clinical autopsy and collection of disease materials, bacterial isolation and culture, morphological observation,16S rRNA gene amplification and sequencing analysis, virulence gene detection and drug susceptibility test. The results showed that a strain of Klebsiella pneumoniae was isolated in this study. The amplified fragment of 16S rRNA gene of the isolated strain was 1459 bp and the sequence similarity with 12 reference strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae on NCBI was more than 99.86%.Virulence gene test result showed that the bacterium contained uge, wabG,aereobctin, khe, rmpA,ureA and fimH virulence genes. The results of drug susceptibility test showed that the isolates were resistant to amoxicillin, penicillin, erythromycin and lincomycin in different degrees. This study provides a basis for the diagnosis and rational drug against Klebsiella pneumoniae in ring-tailed lemurs,as well as a reference for the prevention and control of Klebsiella pneumoniae.
