Abstract:To explore the suitability of a compound anesthetic for Ursidae, ten captive Malayan Sun bears were injected intramuscularly with combined anesthesia drugs TMZB cocktail(butorphanol, dexmedetomidine, tiletamine, and zolazepam)at doses of 0.20-0.30 mg/kg.The effects of analgesic, sedative, muscle relaxation and recovery, and the data of various physiological functions during anesthesia were observed and scored. Results suggested that Malayan Sun bears anesthetized by TMZB cocktail showed good muscle relaxant, sedative and analgesic effects.Meanwhile, there was no significant difference in the animals'body temperature, breathing rate, heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, and mean arterial pressure between anesthesia and original basic values.According to this study, the TMZB cocktail is an ideal compound anesthetic for Ursidae animals.
