Serological Detection of Antibodies against Newcastle Disease virus in Ducks in Jiangmen area, Guangdong Province
Abstract:The infection status of Newcastle disease virus in ducks of all counties and districts of Jiangmen city were investigated so as to provide a reference basis for the epidemiology of the next year. From January to December 2011, random samples fi'om duck farms were selected in the above-mentioned places where the ducks were not immunized. Hemagglutination inhibition test was applied for the duck Newcastle disease antibody titer detection. 2128 duck serums were detected. The detection results showed that the positive level on serum antibody in ducks on average was 24%. The highest antibody level appeared at Xinhui district where the antibody positive rate was above 72%. The second level appeared at Jianghai district and Taishan county with the antibody level fluctuated mainly in winter and spring season. The lowest appeared at Pengjiang district and Hesharb Kaiping, Enping counties with no antibodies. The monitoring results of Jiangmen city showed that the ND antibody levels of different counties (areas) in different months were highly correlated with the seasons and the geography location.
