Clinical investigations on the therapic effect oflysostaphin on the endometritis in dairy cows
Abstract:Lysostaphin is a zinc-binding metalloenzyme first extracted from Staphylococcus simulans cultures. Lysostaphin acts as bactericidal antimicrobials by lysising taphylococcal cells at relatively low consentrations with good tolerance. 140 dairy cows suffered from endometritis were used for the study of lysostaphin on the therapy of endometritis in dairy cows by uterine infusion with 10% oxytetracycline as control. The recovery rates of experimental groups treated with 400, 800 and 1600U lysostaphin for 3 times were 90%, 73.3% and 36.7% respectively and the recovery rate was 70.0% in control group. Rates of pregnancy in estrus and total pregnancy of dairy cows treated with high and middle dosage were significantly higher than that of the group with 400U. It indicated that lysostaphin was a kind of biological drugs which could be used to treat cow endometritis efficiently.
