Abstract:Based on the data of Digital Elevation Model(DEM),fundamental geographic information system and rainfall and with the FloodArea submergence model, this work simulated and verified a flash flood in the northwest of Gaoyao,Zhaoqing caused by an unusually heavy rain on June 8,2018.In the stud-y,a rain-flood relationship model was set up for a weather station at the town of Shuinan, the disaster warn-ing site, and critical flash-flood-causing rainfall was determined to support services against relevant risks in the district. The results are shown as follows. For the process of interest, the modeled water depth has a de-viation of 0.22 m from the observed one, suggesting satisfactory results. Then, the SPSS software was used to run a correlation analysis and set up a regression model between accumulated rainfall at 1,2,3,4,5,and 6 h and modeled depth of submergence. The work concluded that the 2-h critical rainfall for four risk levels of flash flood in the basin of Dajing River is 198.7 mm(Level 1),136.5 mm(Level 2),74.3 mm(Level 3),and 32.9 mm(Level 4),respectively.
