Abstract：The paper is a piece of research on the use of velocity echo and its product derived from Dopplar weather radar observations,in order to analyse the hervy rain in Shantou area in recent years.With the study of synoptic background and changes of physical elements the types of heavy rain and the features of echo,such as typhoon、cold front、warm shear、southwesterly jet convergent area in the rear of ridge and the front of trough、easterly wave,are summarized.And a futher explanation about the structure of wind field of special echo and weather phenomenon is also presented.
