Analysis on Characteristics of Weather Systems Inducing Torrential Rain in the First Rainy Season in Guangzhou

Abstract：In this paper, analyses were made on synoptic situations at levels of 850hPa,500hPa,200hPa and surface that were related to torrential rain in Guangzhou. Some weather systems and their related characteristics at respective levels that possibly induced torrential rain were summarized.The distributions of some important systems at different levels and in different months were provided.It was expected through the investigation that some criteria be made available for forecast of torrential rain in operational weather forecasting service.
