Optimization of vehicle preventive maintenance interval based on tradeoff lives of key components

Abstract：The interval of vehicle preventive maintenance (PM) depends on operating condition and environment. The PM interval needs to be optimized so as to achieve good reliability and have low PM cost. The vehicle reliability is a function of the reliabilities of its key components. This paper presents an approach to optimize the PM interval based on the maintenances records. It utilizes the concepts of the tradeoff BX life. A simple example is included to illustrate the proposed approach.
