Abstract:Chemokines play important roles in the progressing of malignancies, such as carcinogenesis, development, metastasis, formation of tumor microenvironment and anti-tumor immunity. A recently founded chemokine CXC chemokine ligand 16 (CXCL16)and its receptor CXCR6 are receiving increasing attention. It was reported that CXCL16/CXCR6 were over-expressed in many malignancies, could stimulate growth, metastasis and recurrence in some tumors, while played opposite role in others. Moreover, CXCL16/CXCR6 were involved in the formation of tumor microenvironment and stimulate anti-tumor immunity by inducing immune cells, such as CD4+/CD8+ T lymphocyte, NK lymphocyte and so on. Further defining the roles and related molecular mechanisms of CXCL16/CXCR6 in malignancies would be helpful to promote the anti-tumor study.
