The gain-assisted subluminal light propagation in an inverted Y-type atomic system
Abstract：The properties of the dispersion and the absorption of a four-level system can be changed through an adding driving field and the resonance of this field and the four-level atomic system.It is found that,when proper parameters are chosen,the probe light field is enlarged,that is,there is a gain appearing and the gain-absorption coefficient turns to be gain at the same time.These phenomena perfectly correspond to the sub-luminal propagation of the probe field with gain.It is concluded that probe light field can be observed effectively in the same atomic system and the slow light propagation is of great application in highfidelity optical delay lines and modern optical information processing.
