Comparative study of making casting post by two direct methods
Abstract:Objective To compare the clinical effect of two methods to make casting post impression. Methods 203 patients who have 316 residual crowns/residual roots after R. C. T were randomly put into two groups. Cast posts were made in the cavity of the two groups by using GC Unifast Trad methods and inlay wax methods respectively. Operating time, emplacement, compactness and retention were compared. Results 155 posts(98. 1%)were made successfully through GC Unifast Trad methods while 124 posts(78.5%) through inlay-wax methods. The difference between the two groups has a statistic significance (X^2=29. 417,P〈0. 01). Conclusion The clinical effect of casting post made through GC Unifast Trad is better than that made through inlay-wax method and is expected to be extensively applied.
