Abstract:From the 23rd to the 25th year of the Jiaqing reign(1818-1820),Wu Rongguang served as the Shaan'an Military Commissioner of Shaanxi,marking the beginning of his career as an out-of-capital official.In terms of his official achievements and reputation,he strictly suppressed bandits,adjudicated cases impartially,supervised officials to ensure public safety,constructed water conservancy projects,provided relief to disaster victims,and effectively safeguarded local stability and development.In academic and personal life,he sought out inscriptions and acquired important epigraphs such as the"Ren Lingze Stele"and"Gong Bin's Tomb Inscription".He maintained close friendships and marital ties with Yan Ruyu and Chen Zhonglin,which profoundly influenced his academic accumulation and career trajectory.In terms of his personal aspirations,Wu Rongguang lived up to others'expectations,adhered to his self-positioning,followed the admonitions of his monarch,parents,and mentors,practiced self-reflection and self-motivation,practiced self-restraint and prudence,and completed his transformation from a scholar to an exemplary official.Examining Wu Rongguang's career in Shaanxi not only enriches his life and academic research but also opens up new perspectives for the study of local literature and history in Shaanxi.
