Research on Wu Jianren's works and literary thoughts from the perspective of world literature
YU Yajing
Abstract:From the perspective of world literature, examining the works and literary ideas of late Qing writer Wu Jianren,it can be found that his multiple identities as a novelist, editor, translator, and critic formed an important foundation for his active participation in the dialogue between Chinese and Western literature.Wu Jianren's creative and translation practices fully demonstrate the dynamic role of late Qing literature in the global process of modernity.Although Wu Jianren drew inspiration from Western forms,he always adhered to his local cultural stance, forming a creative characteristic of"selective modernity".Its overall practice shows that Chinese literature in the late Qing dynasty did not passively accept external influences, but actively participated in and reshaped the flow of world literature through translation, rewriting, and innovation.Wu Jianren's practice provides important references for understanding the diverse origins of modernization in Chinese literature and its subjectivity in the global context.
