A century review:A study of the structure of chapters and episodes novels

Abstract：From the 1920s to the early 2020s,influenced by the concept that novels are the art of time,the study on the structure of episodic novels has almost always been limited to plot structure.Generally speaking,the first half of the 20th century was a period in Western law;From the 1950s to the 1980s,there were mainly debates and developments around the main storyline and plot structure of novels,with the emergence of mainline theory,double line theory,and various styles of image theory have emerged successively.Since the 1990s,it has been a period of multi-faceted exploration and be in a dilemma.If we can break through the traditional beliefs and draw on other theories appropriately,the study of novel structure can overcome difficulties and create a completely new situation.
