Cross-media narrative,aura emergence and aesthetic education:Cantonese opera film"Madame Qiao Guo"as a memory device
CAI Dali
Abstract:The cross-media integration of film and Cantonese opera,a traditional stage performance art, creates a three-dimensional visual representation space, providing a unique communicative field for the contemporary reinterpretation of the legendary story of Madam Xian or Madam Qiao Guo.Through the re-emergence of traditional cultural aura and the construction of empathetic experiences, the figure of Madam Xian, originally preserved only in historical texts, achieves imaginative activation and reconstruction, thereby reintegrating into the interactive field of contemporary cultural dissemination. From this perspective,as a mnemonic device, the Cantonese opera film"Madame Qiao Guo"demonstrates its core value in the affective potential to galvanize communal identity. This"affective"narrative strategy significantly enhances the film's emotional resonance, transforming grand historical narratives into aesthetic imagery that audiences can repeatedly experience and contemplate.Ultimately,it elevates historical storytelling into a culturally mnemonic medium with contemporary significance.
