On the ontological analysis of synthetic life

Abstract：With the gradual breakthrough of life science,synthetic biology has triggered an important issue:whether synthetic life should be treated as a machine or enjoy the same moral status as natural life?Based on Jonas'philosophy of life,this paper compares the difference between synthetic life,machine and natural life,and then recognizes the intrinsic purpose and intrinsic value of synthetic life and gives it moral status.To control synthetic life means to challenge life,it should hold prudent ethical attitude to the research and application of the synthetic biology.
