Abstract:This paper analyzes the impact and mechanism of digital transformation on the export competitiveness of manufacturing enterprises based on data from 460 listed companies of manufacturing industry in Guangdong Province in China's Shanghai and Shenzhen A-shares markets from 2007 to 2020 using panel fixed effects model. The results show that digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises in Guangdong Province helps to enhance their export competitiveness, and the findings are still consistent after conducting robustness tests such as lagged regression, replacing explanatory and dependent variables, and changing the sample range.By implementing digital transformation, enterprises can effectively reduce management costs, enhance innovation capabilities, and thus enhance the export competitiveness of their products. The impact of digital transformation of enterprises on export competitiveness decreases as the market concentration increases. The digital transformation of enterprises has a greater impact on the export competitiveness of state-owned enterprises,high-tech enterprises, enterprises with overseas backgrounds in executives, and enterprises in the Pearl River Delta region.
