On Characteristics of Shiwan Dialect in Foshan

Abstract：Shiwan is located in the southeast of Chancheng District, belonging to Foshan. The general Cantonese dialect is popular in Shiwan and the dialect spoken by the local residents belongs to sub-dialect but differs with Guangzhou dialect. Based on the recording survey of speech analysis of Foshan Shiwan, this paper mainly describes its phonology, the initial consonant, vowel and tone in detail.
