On Comparison of Children’s Literature between Ikeda Oku and Miyazawa Kenji
MIAO Wu-jun
Abstract:Ikeda Oku advocates goods and lays emphasis on the integration of human and nature. Meanwhile, he focuses on humanity as well as equality, which are admired as treasure of children’s literature. Miyazawa Kenji’s works, full of delicate and sincere emotions, put efforts on building“an ideal Utopia”on earth. Both of them publicize altruism and are dedicated to building a better world. However, they differ in some of their thoughts. The thought of “equality, freedom, universal love and peace” can be easily found in Ikeda Oku’s works, while what we see in Miyazawa Kenji’s works is the thought of “We must bring others happiness regardless of the sacrifice of ourselves.”
