LIANG Bi-biao
Abstract:He Zhuo paid much attention to Liu Zongyuan's ancient Chinese prose and took a lot of comments on Liu's writings. But He Zhuo took negative attitudes to Liu's writings. He criticized the "Dao" of Liu's writings for its not being in accord with the essence of the Confucian classics. Meanwhile, He Zhuo refuted Liu's writings because of being not elegant and concise, and he thought Liu's writings should be cutting out unnecessary details. He Zhuo's critical attitude to Liu's writings help to establish the classic creating concept for ancient Chinese prose, which had led the development of the literary theory of Tongcheng School.
