Lu Danlin and its Modern Character Study

Abstract：The modern history research was not of importance during the period of the Republic of China when the mainstream scholars concentrated on the study of ancient history, and some non mainstream scholars then shouldered the burden on the study of modern history, as Lu Danlin being one of them. Based on the historical data collection and textual research, as well as combined with the traditional historical methods, Lu described in details on the characters of modern times, Lu, with limited article works, provided significant references for the study of characters for contemporary research. Through the discussion of Lu Danlin’s characters and historical research, not only Lu’s literary image of past time has been changed but also the versatility of the Republic of China history has been shown.
