Progress and Theory Construction of Cultural Ecology

Abstract：The definition, research features and contents of cultural ecology have not achieved a unified cognition for the scholars at home and abroad. Cultural ecology has been a new discipline whose origins, development, transition, transmission and consumption are studied through ecological methodology. The features of study include keeping pace of times, imperceptible influence and all-inclusive. Under the context of globalization and modernization, the study scale should direct from“unit” or“region” to“nation” or“world”, which inevitably avoids “monism” and “determinism” as well as refrains “environmental determinism” and“environmental possibilities”, to contribute in the cultural development of contemporary human society.
