Abstract:Based on the questionnaire survey data of 216 peasant entrepreneurs from 7 cities in Guangdong province, this study analyses the relationship between personality traits, social networks and peasants' entrepreneurial performance. The results show that extraversion, emotional stability, and conscientiousness have positively effects on peasants’ entrepreneurial performance; social networks partly moderate the relationships between personality traits and peasants’ entrepreneurial performance. Therefore, social networks are the alternative mechanisms in order to make up for the character flaws and the lack of education and experience, which can weaken the effects of personality traits on peasants’ entrepreneurial performance. At the same time peasants emphasize on constructing social relationship, they should balance the relationship between personality traits and social network. Government needs to improve the vocational training system for peasant entrepreneurs and build up communication platform for them.
