A Brief Discussion on the Secular and Religious Views of Confucianism
FU Wen-zhong
Abstract:Confucianism has two views. On the one hand, it has secular characteristics as it neither worships God nor believes in immortal life or after life. On the other hand, Confucianism is a religion. It focuses on human condition and existence, with mandated rules of“ultimate concern”, also known as“Dao”. These rules (or Dao) guide the principles of spiritual and moral life and serve one's believe.
