On the Inheritance of Heraclitus in Sophist’s Dialectics
CHEN Ting
Abstract:Plato produced the theory of common ideas in his late important dialogue,Sophist, which marked the completion of his dialectics. Compared with his early pieces,it refers to the denial of Parmenides and inheritance of Heraclitus. By interpreting the establishment of the Sophist’s dialectics as well as clarifying and reconstructing philosophy of Heraclitus,it can be found how Plato inherited Heraclitus in aspects like reconciliation between the phenomenon and idea, dynamic theory, views of variation and of contact.
