The Study on the Origin of Foshan Dragon Boat Race

Abstract：Dragon boat race has a long history and is widely circulated. There are many reports talking about its origin. The faith of Water God is thriving because of Foshan’s geographical environment and its natural resources, and the dragon is the most important Water God. People must sacrifice the dragon if they want to pray for good harvest, and one of the rites for sacrificing is to develop dragon boat race, which is reported as the origin of Foshan dragon boat race.
