A Study on College English Teachers’ Professional Development in Eastern Guangdong--Comparing Jieyang Vocational and Technical College with Hanshan Normal College

Abstract：By comparing the educational background structure, academic title structure and teaching and research in both Jieyang Vocational and Technical College and Hanshan Normal College, this paper analyses the current situation of the English teachers teams in two colleges, indicating the choke point of the English teachers’ professional development in vocational colleges. It proposes the tactics of the English teachers’ professional development in vocational colleges, i.e. strengthening the policy support, intensifying the link between colleges and local government, and the cooperation between general colleges and vocational and technical colleges, and enhancing the self-consciousness of teachers’ professional development.
