Abstract：Xu Daohou is an ordinary as well as special Chinese farmer. With progressive, positive, loyal and kind characteristics, his image presents authenticity and typicality. The life experience of him actually is filled with misfortune, painful and colourful, and has been the real portrayal for hundreds of thousands of Chinese people suffering in the 20th century. The image of Xu Daohou has multiple social meaning.
