Pragmatic Analysis on Code-Switching of On-line Chat

Abstract：As one of the special pragmatic strategy ,code-switching refers to the language phenomenon in which the speaker deliberately switches between two or more types of codes in order to achieve certain communicative effects .On the basis of conversation analysis and method of empirical research ,this pa-per tends to find out the strategies ,functionality and causes of code-switching of on-line chat .It is found that there lies a huge difference in use frequency among various strategies ,so does their corresponding pragmatic functions .Moreover ,reasons for code-switching are more complicated and subtle .
