Study on Characteristic Database Construction of Academic Libraries --A Case Study of the Marine Topics Database
Abstract：Through the practice of marine topics database construction, this paper states a series of impli- cations. I. Characteristic database construction in academic libraries needs the guarantee of human re- sources, material resources and financial resources, otherwise, anticlimactic unworthy. Ⅱ. Demonstra- tion projects needs to be careful. Metadata standard, metadata storage solutions, digital resources and storage solutions, cost estimates, and sustainable development programs must be considered. III. To develop characteristic database construction in academic libraries, better plan for allocation and use of funds must be drawn up to provide support. IV. Higher level of the construction and service of charac- teristic database in academic libraries needs to be improved
