The Study on the Architectural Features and Ethical Culture of Foshan Ancestral Halls
Abstract：The ancient buildings in ancestral hall are kinds of folk architecture. Such buildings not only show the consciousness of generations of Chinese families, but also intensify the religious and ethical concepts in the pattern of architectural form, building courtyards and building communities. The ances- tral halls exist widely in Foshan, and its architecture, the layout and the shape of buildings group are all reflected in Lingnan cultural landscape, custom and folklore. This paper discusses the Lingnan ethical culture which emerged from building shape and layout in ancestral halls.
