Discussion on Construction of Modern Chinese Literature History

Abstract：Beginning in the late 19th century, compilation of literature history has strong political aspirations for modern national identity. In the era of globalization, cultural identity would go beyond national identity, and the function of literature history accordingly undergoes profound changes. As one of the sub-disciplines in Chinese Language and Literature, "Chinese Modern and Contemporary Literature" has inevitably been suffering increasingly severe questioning and torture. Seeking common ground, reallo- cating global Chinese literature/cultural resources, and constructing "Modern Chinese Literature History" having been covering global Chinese literature world can be used to ease the tensions between Chinese modern and contemporary literature and international Han literature, literature of Taiwan, HK Macau regions, and overseas Chinese literature. It also helps to promote equality and integration of all ethnic groups in China, to enhance the Chinese language's, on behalf of Chinese culture, influence and competitiveness in the world, whose significance and meanings transcend literature history.
