The Epistemological Significance of Oedipus the King
Abstract:Sophocles' tragedy Oedipus the King reflects the epistemological level of the 5th century B. C. in ancient Greece. The drama challenges the prophet and seeks solid evidence. All of these are the expression of the change from the reliance on mythos to the belief in logos. The gist of the drama is to remind the audience that cognition should be guided by the concern over life.
