The Localization of Foshan Christianity in the Republic of China --from the view of the Methodist Peide Association
Abstract：In modern times, the Western Christianity got access to Foshan and experienced development. At the beginning of the 20th century, under the influence of social reform ideological trend from the Christian community and the New Culture Movement, Foshan Methodist Peide Association had been es- tablished. Although the association was part of Christian Methodist church, it was committed to mer- ging Chinese and western culture and improving social wellbeing. Through schools, publications, and other forms of entertainments, Peide Association disseminates the modern civilization to the general public of Foshan. The development of Methodist Peide Association is not only the performance of locali- zation of Christianity, but also the important driving force for Foshan modernization.
