The Hunan Culture and XIAO Renfu＇s Novels
Abstract：Xiao Renfu＇s novels absorb the Hunan Cultural Spirit.On the one hand,he treated the nature and all things with the view of pantheism to find the spirit of the lung power that was hidden in the world.On the other hand,he observed the thinking of fulfillment,the exercise of self-improvement and the pioneering spirit of struggle from the Hunan culture.XIAO Renfu＇s works are affected profoundly by the Hunan culture.His novels have created a series of popular characters of Hunan culture and environment,which gives his works a distinctive brand of local color and culture.XIAO Renfu＇s works reveal the advantages of Hunan culture,such as the spirit to practice fulfillment,self-improvement,pioneers and a strong awareness of political participation.His novels are also combined with modern concepts,democratic and enlightenment thoughts,which is believed to be a breakthrough in the inherent mode of the Hunan officialdom novels.
