A Humanistic Concern about Human Existence --Interpretation of the Homecoming by Harold Pinter
Abstract:The Homecoming, a work by the British playwright Harold Pinter at earlier time, shows Pin- ter~s concern about the human existence, which expresses the deep worry about the current situation of people's existence in the form of absurdity. For the hero Teddy, home is the place of perceptual existence and his metaphysical pursuit of going home is a failure when facing the reality and sensibility. For the heroine Ruth, home is just a stage for self-control and show of self. The homecoming in this play refers mainly to the homecoming of Ruth and her success in sexual existence.
