Special Subject Planning as a Win-Win Practice for Enhancing the Quality and Cultivating the Editorial Talents in Agricultural Science and Technology Journals

Abstract:The special subject planning is an important manifestation of science and technology journals to give full play to their subjective initiative and carry out the creative work,which can not only effectively solve the problem of homogenization of journals,but also create a distinctive logo of journals and enhance the academic influence and attention of journals.By sorting out the special subject planning practice of Journal of Southern Agriculture,it concluded that the special subject planning could achieve the win-win situation between the quality improvement of agricultural sci-tech journals and the cultivation of editorial talents.The special subject planning could lead the frontier of disciplines to optimize the structure of subject selection;gather the high-quality manuscript sources to enhance the core competitiveness of content;create the characteristic brands to enhance the recognition of journals;concentrate the exposure and exhibition to enhance the communication and influence,thereby ultimately driving the improvement of the quality of agricultural science and technology journals.(2)The special subject planning could deepen the professional competence and sensitivity to academic trends,improve the core professional ability of editors in an all-round way,and cultivate the innovative thinking and the application ability of new technologies,and strengthen the professional self-confidence and sense of acquisition of editors,thereby forging the high-quality editors of sci-tech journals.In addition,although the special subject planning could effectively focus on the frontier,lead the academic,and enhance the influence of journals,it should be combined with its own characteristics and location advantages,which was consistent with the positioning and development goals of journals.At the same time,the long-term special subject planning should be formulated,and the scientific assessment and incentive mechanism should be established to ensure the sustainability of special subject planning.
