Introduction experiment and cultivation techniques of sandalwood
Abstract：Sandalwood was introduced into Putian city, Fujian province in 2006. Studies on introduction experiments and cultivation techniques have been carried out for many years. The results showed that the key to successful introduction was overwintering problem in the middle and south of Fujian province. Usually longan could be used as a plant indicator, mean- ing that sandalwood could be planted in the regions where longan could grow regularly in winter. It needs to select a suitable ecological environment, grow on more than 3 m2-height planting platform, allocate host plants in young growth period and in lifetime. Meanwhile to strenthen scientific fertilizer and water management for its rapid growth and high yield and efficient cultivation of sandalwood.
