Hereditary nonpolyposis colonorectal cancer:analysis of 5 families
Abstract:Objective To understand the hereditary susceptibility and theoccurrence pattern of hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) in members of the families with a clear family history. Methods A retrospective analysis of 5 families with history of HNPCC was conducted. Results HNPCC occured at relatively young ages(mean 46.5 years) with a increased tendency of proximal colon cancer in the family members under investigation, often complicated by extrocolorected malignancy. Conclusions Close attention should be paid to the family members of the patients with HNPCC and regular follow-up performed to detect the malignancy as early as possible to improve the prognosis of potential patients.
