Abstract:The safety issue of lithium batteries has become a key factor restricting development.Adding flame retardants to the electrolyte can improve the safety of lithium ion batteries. This research focuses on three flame retardant additives:Ethoxy(pentafluoro)cyclotriphosphazene(PFPN),Tris(2-carboxyethyl)phosphine(TCEP),and Tri(1,3-dichloroisopropyl)phosphate(TDCPP),and experimental comparative studies were conducted to investigate their effects on the safety and electrochemical performance of the electrolyte.Firstly, the flame retardant performance of TCEP,TDCPP,and PFPN at room temperature was explored through self-extinguishing time and self-propagation rate tests.Subsequently, electrochemical performance tests were performed. The results indicate that the electrolyte with only 5 wt%PFPN achieves a non-flammable,and the addition of PFPN can enhance the cycle performance of the lithium ion battery. When the addition amount of TCEP and TDCPP exceeds 20 wt%,the safety of the electrolyte is significantly improved, but the lithium ion battery can no longer function normally.Furthermore,in a long cycle test of 200 cycles, the lithium ion battery with 5 wt%PFPN addition demonstrated better cycle performance compared to the 10 wt%addition.
