Abstract:This study proposes an in-situ lithium plating detection method based on frequency sweep and single frequency impedance testing, applied to lithium iron phosphate cylindrical and prismatic aluminum shell cells.By monitoring impedance changes during the charging process,real-time detection of lithium plating is achieved. The experimental results show that both frequency sweep and single frequency methods can identify the onset of lithium plating, with consistent results between the two.Additionally, the reliability of single frequency testing under different charge rates has been validated about LFP cylindrical cell, showing that lithium plating occurs earlier as the charge rate increases under low-temperature conditions at 5℃.Meanwhile,the reliability of lithium plating detection for LFP prismatic aluminum-shell cells was also validated under 25℃and 2.5 C charging conditions using sweep frequency and single frequency tests. The above lithium plating detection methods provide an effective tool for the safety monitoring of lithium-ion batteries and offers experimental insights for battery design and optimization.
