Abstract:The spent graphite was coated with 5%~8% phenolic resin(carbon coating amount is the mass fraction)by using liquid phase impregnation. The carbon coating samples were carbon-izated at 850℃.Then the core-shell phenolic resin pyrolyzed carbon/waste graphite composite material were obtained. The micromorphology and surface structure of samples were investigated by XRD,SEM,Raman,BET.The electrochemical properties of the 18650 type batteries were researched by galvanostatic charge/discharge test. The results show that, after the carbonization of phenolic resin, the surface morphology of graphite particles became smooth without edges and corners, and the graphitization degree of graphite decreased. The charge retention rate of the 18650 battery at elevated temperature and normal temperature increased from 85% and 82.4% to 93.8% and 91.2%.When the coating amount of phenolic resin was 8%,the cycle stability of the 18650 battery was the best. After 1000 cycles with charging and discharging in 1C,the capacity holding rate was still 9 1.5 %.
