Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship between platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR)and CVD cardiovascular disease(CVD)morality in elderly patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis(PD).Methods This is a retrospective cohort study. We analyzed the clinical data of elderly patients who underwent PD catheterization in our hospital from January 2013 to September 2021.Among the 209 patients, including 95 male and 114 female,aged(69.5±6.5)years old, ranging from 65 to 86 years old.According to the receiver operator characteristic(ROC)curve,we determined the basis for grouping PLR.We divided the subjects into low PLR and high PLR groups. We used Kaplan Meier method to calculate the survival rate and we used Log-rank method to compare the incidence of CVD between the two groups. We use multivariate Cox regression proportional risk model to analyze risk factors that affect prognosis. Results Kaplan-Meier survival curve analysis showed that the incidence of CVD morality in patients with high PLR was higher than that in patients with low PLR(Log-rank χ2=11.374,P=0.001).Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that PLR(HR=1.002,95%CI:1.000 to 1.004,P=0.011)may be influencing factors for CVD morality in elderly PD patients.Elevated body mass index(HR=0.860,95%CI:0.787 to 0.940,P=0.001)an high serum albumin level(HR=0.950,95%CI:0.903 to 0.999,P=0.047)may serve as protective factors against this adverse outcome. Conclusion Higher PLR may be associated with the risk of CVD morality in elderly PD patients.
